The Story of Maelstrom
A maelstrom is a powerful whirlpool that struck fear into the hearts of even the bravest sailors throughout history. In Greek Mythology, Charybdis was a sea monster with the ability to swallow water for all of eternity. The daughter of Poseidon and Gaea, Charybdis was cursed by Zeus to become this incredibly powerful monster of the seas… a Maelstrom.
Our Hand Forged Creation
With this creation we have captured that turmoil and fierce essence of the sea monster with tentacles bursting from the base to curl and whip about. Suspended from the tentacles by tension filled chains is a bowl that has been textured into a swirling maelstrom whirlpool then fire painted into a sea of natural blues.
Whether you have a love of the Octopus, Cthulhu, Maelstroms, Sailing or Greek Mythology, this special bowl is a stunning collector’s piece. Hand forged by Artisan Blacksmith Daelen Forge in Alberta, Canada.
NOTE: This bowl is not burn safe. After fire painting, it is protected with a special clear coat to provide a durable finish.
Measurement of The Maelstrom Tentacle Bowl is approximately: 10" x 6". Because they are all hand-forged, and each piece of metal has its own essence and character, there may be small blemishes or imperfections, but these add to the unique character of the piece, giving it a special individuality. No two pieces are ever exactly the same.
