This rasp hatchet is one of a kind. Forged from an antique rasp, it was then hardened, tempered, sharpened and mounted on a new handle. The blade face on both sides has been etched with a Raven design.
The Raven (scientific name Corvidae) carries immense power and sacred meaning in cultures around the world. Signifying mystery, divination, and connection to the divine and other worlds. The raven is also seen as a symbol of magical or mystical ways, and a messenger between the living and dead.
In Norse mythology, Odin has two ravens Huginn (thought) and Muninn (memory) serving as his eyes and ears. The raven was of immense importance to the Vikings. They used the raven image extensively on their armour, helmets, shields, banners and carvings on longships. By using the Raven, they were invoking the power of Odin, and striking fear in the hearts of their enemies as they entered battle.
This gorgeous hatchet is a fully functional blade, however caution should be used as use could damage the design.
