Hand forged from a farrier's rasp, these herb choppers are gorgeous and functional.
One of the most common mythological symbols through the ages has been the serpent. Seen as one of the wisest animals it is believed to have close ties to divinity. It's habitat, living amongst the roots in the Earth, is believed to give it strong ties to herbalism and healing. The Greek physician Asclepius, as a god of medicine and healing, carried a staff with one serpent wrapped around it, which has become the symbol of modern medicine.
In the forging of these Serpent Tail Herb Choppers, we have created a tool for wild crafting and kitchen use that embodies the energy of the serpent with it's scale like sides and curled tail handle.
Note: each side of the herb chopper has a different scale pattern which reflects the story of the rasp that this metal was in its' previous life.
These herb choppers are fully functional, hardened and tempered high carbon blades with a near shaving sharp edge and mirror polish. They measure approximately 4" in blade length and comes gift boxed on a bed of all natural excelsior filler.
If you have never owned a high carbon blade, please ensure you are familiar with the proper care, use, sharpening, and storage of the blade. Do not use this blade to cut anything acidic, doing so will etch the blade. After every use clean, dry and oil the blade before storing it properly. If you have any questions, ensure you message us. With proper care your herb chopper will last for many, many years.
All Daelen Forge knives are hand-forged just outside of Edmonton. Each piece of metal has its own essence and character, there may be small blemishes or imperfections, but these add to the unique character of the piece, giving it a special individuality. No two pieces are ever exactly the same.
